Key West FL

Key West, Florida maintains the distinction of being the southernmost point of the Continental United States.  Many tourists are not aware that they are following in the footsteps of Thomas Edison, Harry Truman, Lou Gehrig, or Tennessee Williams.  The streets in Key West are lined with palm trees and littered with gingerbread mansion and conch houses with tin roofs.

and many find the tour trains and trolleys an added benefit of their trip that is quite enjoyable.

Most people travel around Key West in their bare feet, or they may choose to trek around on a bicycle.  There are diving, watersports, golfing and fishing opportunities throughout the Key West landscape.  This city celebrates the setting of the sun in a Sunset Celebration that is held on Mallory Dock.  After this ceremony, the night life of Key West breaks loose and people begin to move to a different beat.

The streets of Key West at night become filled with jugglers, mimes, and street artists.  People fill sidewalk cafes, and drink at open-air bars and other legendary pubs while simply enjoying the company of the person they are with.  The Gay and Lesbian Community had a great part in reviving the city’s economic and social revival in the 1980’s.

Tourists will come to understand what a botanical and true architectural treasure Key West is when they visit the old town of Key West.  Tehre are many old wooden homes and tropical trees and flowers to make this a true tropical paradise.  Tourists are afforded the opportunity to charter fishing boats for the day, at an area called “the Blight”, and haul in the plentiful array of seafood that any palette could ever care to enjoy.

There are snorkeling and diving opportunities that tourist will enjoy that are done on open-ocean dives, and allow the visitors to view large coral reefs that are filled with large fish of many species.  The open-ocean setting will give a feeling of light-weight floating that makes a person feel very small, against the background of the Atlantic Ocean.

Tourists can view the renovated Seaport district that lends a hint to the rich seafaring history that Key West possesses by simply strolling along the harbor on a short walk that will take them to one of the many restaurants in Key West.  The cuisine that is offered in Key West is exquisite and in many locations is prepared by award-winning chefs.
